Breaking News | | Thursday, September 1st, 2033: AL's Premier Starter is Patino Capping off a whirlwind month in which he went 4-1 with a 1.26 ERA, Luis Patino was selected as August's American Pitcher of the Month today. SION News caught up with the elated San Diego starter as he left the clubhouse.
"I know it's difficult for pitchers -- when you have a bad start or two and people start wondering if you've lost it. Then you ride stretches like this one for all you can. You find it easier to come to the park every day because know you're contributing to the club, not just waiting for your turn in the rotation to make up for your last start."
Luis Patino definitely contributed to the club. He had 6 starts, throwing 43 innings, striking out 41 and holding the opposition to a .196 average.
So far in 23 starts this season, Patino has recorded 15 wins and sustained 2 losses. He has pitched 161.2 innings, yielded 134 hits, fanned 155 and has a 2.23 ERA. | | Wednesday, August 24th, 2033: Carson Out for 2 Weeks The San Diego Padres were dealt a serious blow when the team learned that Rhett Carson was likely to be out for 2 weeks after he injured himself colliding with a player at a base in today's game against the San Francisco Giants. A round of tests by the team doctors revealed the injury to be a hyperextended knee. Upon learning of their diagnosis, the San Diego manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries--they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Rhett is back in action."
For the year Carson is batting .296 with 115 hits and 14 home runs. He has scored 59 times and driven in 68. | | Monday, August 22nd, 2033: Injury Forces Tony Gonsolin Out San Diego fans held their breath as Tony Gonsolin left yesterday's Giants-Padres contest with an injury. After the game, the team's medical staff said that the 24-year-old starting pitcher had suffered dead arm syndrome while throwing a pitch. It's estimated that he will be out 1-2 weeks.
This season Gonsolin has crafted a 9-5 mark with a 3.86 ERA in 158.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .256 against him and he has 154 strikeouts. | | | Team Information | Record overall | 90-72, .556 PCT | Position in Division | 2nd, 15.0 GB | Record at home | 41-40, .506 PCT | Record on the road | 49-32, .605 PCT | Record in X-inning games | 3-5, .375 PCT | Record in one-run games | 25-16, .610 PCT | Record versus LHP | 30-22, .577 PCT | Record versus RHP | 60-50, .545 PCT | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | Record in April | 11-13, .458 PCT | Record in May | 12-14, .462 PCT | Record in June | 16-12, .571 PCT | Record in July | 18-9, .667 PCT | Record in August | 17-12, .586 PCT | Record in September | 16-10, .615 PCT | Record in October | 0-2, .000 PCT |
