Watching Robinson Gutiérrez getting helped off the field today at Yankee Stadium II, fans of the New York Yankees feared the worst. The news wasn't quite as bad as initially feared, but the starting pitcher will miss 1-2 weeks with dead arm syndrome. "We feel we've dodged a bullet. When you see a guy break down like that, you worry right away," a team spokesman said. Gutiérrez suffered the injury throwing a pitch in the game against the Blue Jays.
This year Gutiérrez has a 7-14 mark in 30 starts with a 5.69 ERA. He has given up 233 hits in 213.2 innings, struck out 164 and issued 63 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .275 batting average against him.

| Monday, August 29th, 2033: Haniger Selected Top Player
New York fans have something to crow about today as New York right fielder Mitch Haniger nabbed the American Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days.
"I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Haniger.
He posted a .433 average (13-30) this past week with 7 home runs, 11 RBIs, and 10 runs scored.
So far in 2033 Haniger is batting .298 with 34 home runs, 96 RBIs and 88 runs scored. He has 148 hits in 496 at-bats and a .345 OBP.

Today at Edison International Field Spencer Torkelson collected a cycle and led Boston to a 15-1 triumph over the Anaheim Angels. The Angels first baseman sparked his club with 4 hits in 5 tries with 2 runs scored and 3 runs batted in.
