It's a number that very few players reach. Today Adam Boyd became a member of that exclusive club. He belted it at Tiger Stadium against the Blue Jays. But sometimes milestone homers don't win the game. The powerful Detroit right fielder got all of the headlines, but Toronto came away with the victory. They beat the Tigers 8-4.
During the postgame interview he told the press, "It's a big relief to get it over. I tried not to think about it, but it's kind of hard when you have a huge sign on the scoreboard staring at you every time you step up to the plate. The home run was nice, but I would have preferred to win the game."
His batting totals for the game showed 1 hit in 4 at-bats, 1 home run and 2 runs batted in.
The hardworking and dedicated Boyd also said, "I'll celebrate a little with my family tonight but not too much. This is not the last home run I will hit. I think I have a lot baseball left in me and have other goals. I'll get back to work tomorrow."
During his career Boyd has played in 925 games, batted .293 with 300 home runs and 1070 base hits. | | Injuries | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | P Blake Treinen | ruptured ulnar collateral ligament (elbow) | 5-6 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | Team Information | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
