Monday, June 7th, 2027: Bad News for Braves, Mancini Injured
It took the Atlanta team doctor a while to realize it, but right fielder Trey Mancini won't simply play through a strained hip muscle after he got hurt running the bases in today's White Sox-Braves game. At first, it looked like Mancini might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 2 weeks. A spokesman for the club described the loss of Mancini as a blow, but was confident that he'd be back soon.
So far this season Mancini is hitting .344 with 14 home runs.
Monday, June 7th, 2027: Hughes and Hill Traded
The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The Montreal Expos sent 33-year old starting pitcher Jeffery Hughes to the Atlanta Braves for 23-year old minor league center fielder Nelson Hill, 21-year old minor league starting pitcher Jesús Rivas, 20-year old minor league reliever Jeremy McCoy and a 1st round draft pick.
Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.
So far this season, Hughes has logged a 4-5 record with a 5.00 ERA. He has started 12 games, hurled 66.2 innings and registered 51 strikeouts and 24 walks.
Wednesday, May 26th, 2027: Atlanta's Potticary Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Ewan Potticary showed how it's done as he went 5 for 6 against the Cincinnati Reds and helped the Atlanta Braves beat them 17-7.
The manager for the Reds told the SION sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Potticary keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
E. Potticary struck out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
In 2027 Potticary is batting .320 with 3 home runs.
