|Friday, August 27th, 2027: #300 for Chesenhall|
"I wasn't trying to hit a homer. I just wanted to make contact."
That's what Lonne Chesenhall told reporters after he made baseball history today at Jacobs Field. The prolific slugger belted home run #300 in the Cleveland Indians 8-7 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
The standout third baseman collected 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
"I guess this puts me in baseball's elite," said Chesenhall. "I don't feel any different. I probably should, but I don't. Still, it is a nice achievement. I did get a little excited, didn't I?"
Chesenhall has a career .304 batting average with a .356 OBP. He has hit 300 homers, driven in 1130 runs and scored 1040 runs since he came into the league.
|Monday, August 23rd, 2027: Tommy Kahnle to Miss 3 Months|
Watching Tommy Kahnle getting helped off the field today at Turner Field, fans of the Atlanta Braves feared the worst. The news wasn't quite as bad as initially feared, but the reliever will miss 3 months with a strained elbow ligament. "We feel we've dodged a bullet. When you see a guy break down like that, you worry right away," a team spokesman said. Kahnle suffered the injury throwing a pitch in the game against the Rangers.
So far in the 2027 campaign Kahnle has delivered no saves. In 38 relief appearances he has 34 strikeouts in 63.2 innings with a 6.08 ERA and 5 wins and 2 losses.
