It was a banner day for Ricardo Deleón, who collected his 2500th hit in the Floride 9-2 win over Cincinnati. Deleón went 3-5 in the game as both Marlins and Reds fans cheered Deleón, when he reached base after his historic hit.
"It feels great to get #2500," Deleón said afterward, "especially since we won the game."
In his career Deleón has hit .319 with 2501 hits, 530 home runs, 1657 RBIs and scored 1962 runs.

 | Friday, September 22nd, 2034: Lutz at His Best, Whips Marlins
In an outstanding mound performance, Brian Lutz of the Cincinnati Reds scuttled the Floride Marlins 7-0 on a 4-hit shutout, ringing up 6 strikeouts and giving up no walks.
"He's got great stuff and good movement," the Floride manager said after the game.
"He threw a lot of breaking balls. He made adjustments. We just couldn't figure him out today."
To date in 2034, Lutz sports a 11-8 mark with a 3.56 ERA in 24 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .247 batting average and has 123 strikeouts in 166.2 innings.

Floride fans held their breath as Eduardo Ortíz left yesterday's Pirates-Marlins contest with an injury. After the game, the team's medical staff said that the 28-year-old first baseman had suffered a strained back muscle while running the bases. It's estimated that he will be out 3 weeks.
