Monday, October 2nd, 2034: AL Batting Title Belongs to Farmer
Pat Farmer of the New York Mets capped a fine season by winning the American batting crown.
He outpaced all others with his .373 average.

For the season, the Mets center fielder played in 140 games, collected 215 hits, 58 home runs, scored 152 times and knocked in 153 runs.

Farmer regarded himself as "lucky" to avoid any lengthy slumps. "The hits kept coming," he said, "all year long."
Tuesday, September 26th, 2034: Rogers Sidelined, Listed DTD by New York
The topic du jour around New York is whether Gordon Rogers of the Mets will suit up for today's contest. He was injured yesterday against the Red Sox while throwing a pitch. The standout 27-year-old closer has a strained back muscle and didn't rule out playing, but did say that if pain persisted, he would not risk further injury.

"Gordon will play if he can," said the team doctor. "He hasn't got a major injury, but at the same time, we need to monitor the situation and protect him as much as possible."

This year Rogers has earned 35 saves, made 66 relief appearances, fanned 72 hitters in 85 innings and posted an ERA of 2.96 and a 5-6 record.
