Saturday, April 27th, 2030: Stevens Tags Number 300
The Boston 7-5 victory over Anaheim was highlighted by Richard Stevens's 300th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.

"I didn't see all of them out there," Stevens laughed, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"

In 5 at-bats the Red Sox first baseman collected 2 hits in his historic game, scored 2 runs and had 2 runs batted in.

During his career Stevens is batting .335 and has totaled 300 home runs.
Saturday, April 27th, 2030: Rumors Confirmed, Powers Retires
Josh Powers of the Red Sox is hanging it up. The veteran starting pitcher reportedly told team officials yesterday that he would not return for another season.

"The time has come for me to give up a game I love dearly, but the time is right. Baseball has been good for me and I hope I have been good for baseball."

"While we are disappointed Josh will not be playing for us next year, I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and the way he went about this decision," said the Boston general manager.

In career stats, the 36-year-old Powers has won 90 and lost 117, recording 1273 strikeouts and 756 walks in 1746.1 innings with a 5.68 ERA. Opponents have hit .286 against him.
