Saturday, September 11th, 2027: Gamel Batters Detroit for 5 Hits
5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day. Toronto's Ben Gamel had a very special day against the Tigers when everything came together for him and he did just that -- collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats -- and led the Toronto Blue Jays to a 20-10 win at Skydome.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Gamel said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
B. Gamel hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off R. García in the 6th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off C. Kimbrel in the 8th.
A look at his 2027 stats shows Gamel with a .382 average, 12 home runs, 57 RBIs and 78 runs scored. He has played in 75 games.
Wednesday, August 18th, 2027: Chad Green Not Happy in Detroit?
Allegedly, Chad Green has asked to be traded from Detroit. It is rumored that he is unhappy with fans and the team management and that maybe the pressure and demands of playing here are too great.
Saturday, August 7th, 2027: 5-Hit Game for Culberson!
After the Texas 18-4 victory over Detroit and his 5-hit day third baseman Charlie Culberson told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."
The 28-year-old player gained that distinction today at The Ballpark at Arlington with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Detroit Tigers.
The skipper of the Rangers spoke glowingly of Culberson, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Charlie did that to perfection today."
C. Culberson doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off J. Blake in the 8th.
A look at his 2027 stats shows Culberson with a .292 average, 17 home runs, 63 RBIs and 55 runs scored. He has played in 90 games.
