At bat the Twins floundered, fizzled and failed to score.
"His fastball moves and he mixes in the slider," the Minnesota manager said. "He kept us off balance."
The St. Louis pitcher hurled a 5-hit shutout in an exceptional effort. He gave up no walks and numbered 4 strikeouts.
"I felt good," Wells said. "That's probably the best fastball I've had all season. I was able to locate it pretty well. They were super-aggressive, which helped me."
Checking out his stats for the year, Wells has racked up 5 wins and 6 losses in 17 starts, 5.21 ERA and struck out 24 batters in 93.1 innings. |  | Thursday, July 3rd, 2031: Silva Firms Up Extension with Minnesota The latest out of Minnesota indicates that Jorge Silva has re-signed with the Twins and that the 27-year-old starting pitcher is set to earn $10,260,000 over a 3-year span.
Team officials tell SION the deal will be officially announced at a press conference tomorrow.
So far in 16 starts this season, Silva has recorded 7 wins and sustained 2 losses. He has pitched 102.1 innings, yielded 101 hits, fanned 78 and has a 5.63 ERA. |  | Tuesday, July 1st, 2031: American Announces June's Top Pitcher In June Minnesota starter Alek Manoah mystified American hitters and carried off the Pitcher of the Month honors by chalking up a 5-0 record in 6 starts.
The 24-year-old Manoah added 43 strikeouts in 45.2 innings and 7 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.18 ERA. Opposing batters hit .210 against him.
