|Monday, June 7th, 2027: Moustakas Reaches 2500 Milestone|
Houston's Mike Moustakas got the standing ovation -- but the New York Yankees got the win.
It was a historic day at Astrodome. A day when Moustakas notched hit #2500 of his career. The fans went wild when he did. Even the Yankees fans applauded.
The Astros third baseman went 2-4 in a losing cause as New York spoiled the party with the 3-2 victory.
In the postgame interview, a downhearted Moustakas told the media, "We lost -- It's not about individual accomplishments -- we lost."
When pressed further, he admitted his pride in reaching the 2500-hit mark, "A lot of great players never get there. I'm proud, but I would be happier if we had won."
In his all-time stats Moustakas is hitting .321 with 2500 hits, 629 home runs, 1896 runs scored and 2024 RBIs.
|Friday, June 4th, 2027: 400 Homers for Yankees Slugger|
400 home runs is a lot of home runs to hit. It's a number that very few players reach. Today Yasmany Tomas became a member of that exclusive club. He belted it at Yankee Stadium II against the Cubs. But sometimes milestone homers don't win the game. The powerful New York left fielder got all of the headlines, but Chicago came away with the victory. They beat the Yankees 7-4.
During the postgame interview he told the press, "It's a big relief to get it over. I tried not to think about it, but it's kind of hard when you have a huge sign on the scoreboard staring at you every time you step up to the plate. The home run was nice, but I would have preferred to win the game."
His batting totals for the game showed 2 hits in 4 at-bats, 1 home run and 2 runs batted in.
The hardworking and dedicated Tomas also said, "I'll celebrate a little with my family tonight but not too much. This is not the last home run I will hit. I think I have a lot baseball left in me and have other goals. I'll get back to work tomorrow."
During his career Tomas has hit .315 with 1699 hits, 400 home runs, 1119 RBIs and scored 991 runs.
