Wednesday, January 1st, 2020: Hall of Fame Inducts Starting Pitcher
When he was summoned into the game, Jake Westbrook answered the call and usually sealed the victory. Now the ace relief specialist has been summoned by the Baseball Writers Association. They have elected him to the lbsq Hall of Fame. Westbrook was inducted today and took his place among all of the diamond immortals.

In his induction ceremony he exclaimed, "Wow! What a day! This is really exciting to be here with all of the baseball greats. All these guys are my idols and heroes. It sure is a special feeling to be honored like this. It's not something you think about during your playing career. But I'm sure glad I got the phone call from the election committee. It was only in my last few seasons that I thought I might have a chance."

Westbrook earned his way to the Hall of Fame with 445 career saves and fine 3.78 ERA. He made 1011 relief appearances, posted 72 wins and 100 losses, struck out 904 batters in 1082.1 innings and held other teams to a .247 batting average. Westbrook retired from baseball, when he was 42.

During his speech, he pointed to all of the gathered greats and joked, "I sure would hate to be called in to face these guys in the late innings. I might not be here today."
